Take a peek at this hot week that we survived!
We weren't quite sure how this week would MEASURE up...
but we discovered lots of new learning tools
and made lots of new friends along the way.
We had lots of fun alphabet adventures this week too.
First we built a letter out of wooden shapes.
Then we made the letter fancy.
The challenge was to use tweezers
to add our fancy items.
YAY! They were so excited when they filled up the whole letter.
The heat outside meant we had some fun extra gym time!
These boys challenged themselves to shoot backwards.
Sometimes they even made it! :)
Back in the classroom the kids were working really hard to create with soft blocks and wooden planks.
They could make anything they wanted to out of these materials.
I was AMAZED at the towers and bridges the children created!
We definitely have some architects in the group.
We read a wonderful book about a little mouse named Chrysanthemum. It was a great reminder that words are powerful, we need to be careful with the words we say.
This book also inspired us to decorate our own names
and share what makes our own name special.
The kids were also introduced to our "Little Spots" and we talked about our emotions.
Sometimes we even feel like a "scribble spot" where we are a mixture of emotions.
The kids then set to work making spots and painting them all different colors.
Next week we will take those "scribble spots" and turn them into our Little Spot artwork!
YAY! It was finally our turn to officially have gym class!
We started off by playing "line tag".
This week it simply was a challenge to stay on the lines! Next week we get to add the taggers!
We left the gym by running a lap around the gym like a race track.
We also enjoyed our first music class with Mrs. Crumrine.
She already taught us a lot of fun songs.
The kids were busy singing and praising God.
They also played a fun rhythm game to get to know each others names.
Next up was our first chapel! Pastor Rouland led chapel with his good "friend" Ruppert.
Thank you for your generosity with chapel offering. We are excited to bring in offering to help fund scholarships for men and women to become pastors or teachers.
It was also a special day in chapel as we celebrated baptismal birthdays.
Back in the classroom we were busy talking about body parts.
The kids enjoyed making people using a variety of materials.
They had to think carefully about what body parts they needed to add.
The kids also worked hard making "loose parts" people!
They took a variety of small items
and turned them into a person!
Each person was just as unique
as they child that created it.
These kids have such great imaginations!
We also played a little alphabet stacking game.
They picked an alphabet card and called out the letter they got.
Then we used linking cubes to cover up the letter. YAY!
Indoor recess meant a trip to the church basement.
The kids had a blast working together for our puzzle challenge!
We were trying to see how many puzzles we could get done in 20 minutes.
It was amazing to hear them cheering for each other!
They did such a great job of working with each other to complete their puzzles.
The heat couldn't stop our smiles!
We were looking for things from A to Z...
We took our cameras with us to take pictures.
We found some very special people along the way.
We stopped by to see the cooks and the lunch crew first.
Miss Mel showed us milk.
Miss Carol brought some cheese , while Miss Korrie had Ketchup.
Pickles popped up from Miss Pam.
In the office we found Mr. Debrick with a deer.
Mr. Marolf had a mariners bobblehead.
Mrs. Helmkamp held up a hula hoop!
Norah took a picture with our nice nurse.
We found Mrs. Lail hard at work...
Mrs. Lail showed the kids how the laminator worked!
Next we headed over to the church.
We found our lovely church secretary, Mrs. Adams.
Mrs. Adams had some apples!
Zion's business manager Mrs. Thomason had some tootsie rolls to share! YUMMY!
Pastor Fieberkorn showed us his fun-filled office
AND some flowers!
We missed Pastor Rouland, but he did leave us some yummy raspberries.
For the letter "e" we found an elevator.
We ventured up the stairs and found...
Mr. Thoelke our AMAZING music director.
Mr. Thoelke showed us a trombone.
We found an eXit for the letter "X".
Z of course is for ZION!
Another hot day had us back in the church basement.
This time we had all kinds of fun things to build and create with.
More puzzles also popped up.
In the classroom we were working with sea creatures as we talked about day 5 of God's creation.
The kids enjoyed using wooden blocks to create homes
and balancing towers for sea creatures.
This little guy even made an aquarium.
We ended our week with lots of friendship and fun...
AND our dance party Friday!
"Hug a friend" is their favorite verse! :)
It's a great way to kick off our Friday.
More alphabet adventures popped up to end our week.
The kids rolled the dice
then they had to write the letter in play doh
using a wooden stick.
This is a great way for the kids to strengthen their fingers and have fun too!
We finished the day working with land animals.
We talked about day 6 of the creation story.
Our creative brains got to work making animals out of pattern blocks.
This is a cheetah!
The kids also enjoyed sorting animals.
The kids discovered different ways to use the squares to help them sort the animals.
Whew! It was quite the crazy hot week...
but that couldn't stop our smiles from exploding out of us!
Stay tuned for next week's adventures...
