Here we go...

YAY!  We made it through our first week of school!
We couldn't believe all the adventures we get to have in kindergarten!
Before we made our way to school...
We popped in for a sneak peek at our Open House.

We were all ready to go for the first day of school!

Lots of smiles popped up

as we got right to work

building and creating.

The kids were excited to see some familiar faces
and make some new friends too.
Day number one was off to a great start.

It was a beautiful day to enjoy our snack outside.

The kids also enjoyed hanging out on the playground!

The kids loved exploring the "big kid" playground

because now they are the big kids!  :)

We even found some familiar faces outside!

We also ventured out for a school-wide school picture.
I'll show you the final picture soon!
Story time brought us a special book called Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten

We compared it to how we got ready for kindergarten.

Next up was drawing a self portrait.

We will do this several times throughout the year to see how we change .

Who was a little nervous to come to school the first day .... PIGEON!

We read a hilarious book about how pigeon did NOT want to go to school.

In the afternoon we enjoyed "Activity Time".

The kids put on their thinking caps

And made some amazing things with wooden sticks and blocks.

These boys made bug chompers!

We also got a little messy

and painted our very own kissing hand.

More smiles appeared on day two!

And so did more creations!

We had a great time reading about Pete the Cat and his shoes!
Did we cry... goodness no!

We took our number telescopes

On a hunt for Pete the Cat's shoes!

We found some outside.

We found one on the office window and saw Mr. Debrick too!

We found another shoe on the church window.

Even one on a rock!
There's shoe  number nine...

But where is ten???

There it is!
And away we go!
Back in the classroom we had more fun with Pete!
This time we were working with his groovy buttons!

First we rolled the dice to see how many buttons Pete got.

Sometimes Pete just got one button.

Sometimes he got lots of buttons!

The kids also had fun painting Pete's shoe.

We're rockin' in our school shoes!

All done with day number 2...

and it was "ALL GOOD"!

Day 3 looked to be another picture perfect day!

The kids are already starting to teach each other!  :)

Our morning started off with a fire drill.

The kids were a little nervous, but they were SO brave and did a great job!
After reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom...

the kids LOVED making their own coconut trees!

Some trees were very tall!

We even tried to balance the letters on the tree.
Teamwork made some really great coconut trees!

Look at this work in progress!

Such creative minds at work!
The kids also had fun painting their own trees.

Each one was very unique!

Next week we will add letters to the tree.

We also made special letters using balls and sticks.
I was very impressed with what they came up with!

Pattern blocks was another fun tool we explored with!

Our coconut trees were back in the afternoon.

This time we were rolling the dice

to see how many coconuts to put down the tree.

They even had to use tongs to pick the coconuts up.

The kids LOVED this game!

More messy fun popped up!

This time we were working together to paint our coconut tree!

I think some kids had more fun painting themselves

then the tree!

I wonder how it will turn out!
We are off to a great start!

I can't wait to see what happens next week!
