We were all geared up for another great week in kindergarten.
We had a TREEmendous time talking about Christmas trees
and creating some very unusual Christmas trees of our own.
Some kids even used nuts and bolts to create trees.
Other children created snowy pictures
including giant snowflakes.
We had a special reader come on Monday.
She read to us the book called, The Good Deed Manger.
Then she showed the kids how the "good deed manger" worked,
so they could help fill it.
She even made each child a manger of their own to take home. Complete with baby Jesus!
We also put our game faces on this week,
as we celebrated GAME DAY!
They played lot of card games
like UNO
and go fish.
There also were a variety of matching games.
and Candy Land showed up too!
Twister of course had everyone all over the place.
Pop the Pig had the kids on the edge of their seats.
You just never new when that pig was going to pop!
Game Day was definitely a day full of excitement and fun!
Mr. Debrick led our chapel this week.
After chapel
something very exciting happened!
FREDBIRD showed up!
He was full of surprises!
He was actually visiting our school because a little girl from Mrs. Stanglein's class won a contest.
What an exciting day for her and her family!!!
Fredbird had our class laughing
and giggling with complete joy.
They didn't want him to go.
It is a day these kids will never forget!
Another visitor (who was not so friendly) showed up this week too!
The Grinch stopped by our classroom.
He tried to steal our Christmas fun...
He took away our "gifts"
and we had to figure out which ones were missing.
Our "sight word" Christmas trees
also began disappearing.
The children had to match them up and figure out which one was gone!
He even slimed
us with Grinch slime!
It was so slimy
some kids couldn't get it off of their fingers.
We decided to build our own little WHOVILLE,
complete with Christmas trees
and houses.
The kids even designed some sturdy fences to protect WHOVILLE from the Grinch!
We hope his heart grows a little bit before Christmas gets here.
Friday we went to see our Spanish speaking 8th graders.
They helped us celebrate Las Posadas.
The children each received a lantern and traveled with Mary and Joseph
to different inns.
Every innkeeper told them the same thing... NO ROOM!
Finally there was one place that had a stable outback for them.
Then it was time to have a FIESTA!
They hit a pretend Piñata
and enjoyed some yummy candy!
Mrs. Martin then read to them a special book.
They ended by singing a few Spanish Christmas carols.
We can't wait to share our version of the true Christmas story!
Here is a little peek into our special project...
The fourth graders came
and helped us with our costumes.
Since it was such a beautiful day
we headed outside
to take a few pictures of scenes from the Christmas story.
Caesar Augustas showed up.
Of course there were Mary and Joseph.
We had an innkeeper
who didn't have any room in her inn.
A bunch of angels showed up
including Gabriel.
along with some very excited shepherds.
The shepherds did get a little sidetracked and decided to sell some lemonade. :)
It was a very memorable afternoon.
One I know the kids will never forget.
As Christmas gets closer and closer, we pray you take time to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
For to us a CHILD is born. To us a SON is given.
