Budding Artists at Work!

We were all lined up for another GREAT week!

We finished off celebrating Earth Day...

by creating with junk!

We had everything from bracelets to a fish!

This week also brought some fun painting adventures!

Even Mr. Debrick joined in on the fun!
The children were able to paint like Jackson Pollock.
They dropped ping pong balls...
Splattered paint...
Threw paint...
And flicked paint.

They made a little bit of a mess...
Some A LOT of messes!
But they created MASTERPIECES!

The children also "painted" words in the classroom, which was a lot neater!
Later we read the book Sky Color.  A wonderful book about painting.

The children were so inspired by it,

they wanted to create their own murals!

They did a GREAT job of working as a team.

And creating some more masterpieces!

Wednesday was Jelly Bean Day!

There were some jumbled jelly bean sentences they had to fix.

We had quite the jelly factory in the afternoon.

They had to examine the jelly beans.
They were looking for "belly flops".
Some beans were too big, too bumpy, or too cracked.

Some of the jelly beans just looked plain silly!

Next up was the weighing and measuring station.
They tried to get the beans to balance!
They also had to measure with the jelly beans.
Another station was designing/painting their own jelly bean.
They had to figure out how to paint with jelly beans!
Some dropped the box down  low.
Others raised it up high.

Some rocked it back and forth,

while  others tried flicking it with their fingers.

The last station was the sorting  and adding station.
When they were done, they took home a bag of their favorite jelly bean flavors.
But first they had to take "inventory" of their bag by making a graph.
They also got to sample a few jelly beans too!
Jelly Bean Day was a sweet success!
Another YUMMY day popped up as we talked about the -ake chunk!
We decided to make and bake a yummy PUDDLE cake!
The cake was SOOO yummy!

There were hardly even any crumbs left!

Another sweet success!
We finished Friday off with a SNOWSTORM of activities to help us learn our seasons!
Some children were not so excited about the snowstorm spelling; others LOVED it!
We also went on a leaf letter hunt in our stories.

Rain drop rhymers helped us celebrate spring!

These children did a great job of creating summer pictures on the laptop.

We finished off the week by singing God's praises!

The children did an AMAZING job

of proclaiming the good news of God's great love!

What a great week!

Mmm... I wonder what we will be up to next week!
