SENSEsational Week!

A "sense"sational week!

Nothing could stop our learning adventures this week!

We kicked off this week by going to the library for the first time.

We searched for the perfect book.

Mrs. Masa helped us check out some good ones!

We just couldn't wait to get started reading!

The first sense we tried out this week was our sense of taste.

Some things did not taste very good!

Others made us smile!

We then recorded whether we liked it or not.

We also read about the Hungry Caterpillar.

Tuesday was listening day.

Mrs. Wegener came to help us use our sense of hearing.

We had to listen to different sounds...

and find the right match!

Mrs. Fuhr led them to a special listening spot.

They sat and listened to everything around them.

They then drew pictures of what they heard.

It was quite the challenge!

We finished the day with a special experiment...

that got a standing ovation!

We were looking for more fun as we used our sense of seeing.

We read a book about Elmer the patchwork elephant and made our very own Elmers.

We finished the day by taking away our sight.

We had to use all of our other senses to guess what we were eating!

Thursday was quite the day!

The children used their sense of smell for a guessing game.

Some things did not smell very good...

Some of them smelled REALLY bad!

We were on a roll for more learning fun!

We headed right into a "Sense"sational Camping Day!

We didn't have to search too far to find more adventures.

We gathered around the campfire and shared some stories.

We also heard from a special puppet about camping and Jesus!
Some special friends even joined us for Camping Day!

Next up it was time to pick the firewood.

We rolled the dice to see how much firewood we needed.
Reading time was great fun as we searched for letters...

We read lots of fun stories...
in the tent.

We even read...
inside of ladybug tent!
Reading is so fun!

Next we read a story about making trail mix.

So of course we had to try it out!
WHEW!
  What a busy morning!

It was time for a little break.

So we snuggled up in our sleeping bags.

and had a little quiet time.

But not for long...

It was time to go meet our 4th grade friends!

Mrs. Haun braved the heat...
She led the children on an
I SPY nature hike!

They searched everywhere for special treasures.

They even got to go fishing!

It was a catch and release kind of a pond.

Next up was S'More making.

The children headed out to the pavilion

with their 4th grade friends.

They used their sense of taste...

and smell...
as they made some delicious S'mores.
Mr. Debrick makes the best S'mores!

Some people got a little messy...
some got A LOT messy!
Even the 4th graders got a little messy...
and had a great time!

No doubt about it...
S'mores are SENSEsational!

The third station was the collage station.

They used their sense of feeling...

To create some beautiful master pieces.

Pastor Rouland even showed up!

He helped us use our sense of hearing as he read to us a fun camping story.
We ended our day by singing

and dancing with our new friends!

It was a great day!

AND a GREAT week!

What special friends and special memories we made this week!
